If you popped to the shops in Llanelli town centre this Saturday you would’ve been in for a great surprise, as a handful of Llanelli’s favourite characters were back for our #GoodToBeBack Saturday!

Princesses, superheroes and even a dinosaur greeted people under social distancing guidelines as part of our celebration to welcome back shops and shoppers.

Iron Man and Captain America, Princesses Rapunzel and Belle, and Ronnie the T-rex spent the day posing for socially-distanced photos – only the brave dare to go closer to Ronnie even under normal circumstances!

Characters kept 2 metres away from the public, while inside St Elli Shopping Centre a table of free cupcakes made by Jenkins Bakery were gone in under two hours, as well as sweets donated by Morrisons and rainbow windmills from the Works.

It’s odd to thank people for not coming out in their droves but we’d like to do just that - so thank you and well done!

Chair of Ymlaen Llanelli, Lesley Richards, said it was good to see more people safely back in town:  “Good To Be Back Saturday was incredibly different from our events – we're used to filling the streets with crowds of people and creating a hustle and bustle, but that simply wasn’t the case on Saturday.

“It’s odd to thank people for not coming out in their droves but we’d like to do just that. Everyone had a great time while keeping each other safe by following the guidelines, so thank you and well done!”

Check out some of our video of the day below, with even more photo highlights on our Facebook page!

We'll be posting updates on our planned events over on our Facebook and Twitter so keep an eye out!
