From this Saturday it will cost just £1 to park in Murray Street car park all day on Saturdays for the rest of the year thanks to an initiative from Ymlaen Llanelli.

We previously created the initiative to cover the Christmas season, and have now decided to extend the scheme to be year-round due to its popularity with town centre businesses and the public.

Chair of Ymlaen Llanelli, Lesley Richards, welcomes the idea: “We’re always looking for ways to encourage people to shop local and we’ve found that the £1 parking has had a positive impact. The businesses love it, the public love it, so it was a no-brainer to continue it all year.”

The revived initiative runs alongside the free parking scheme currently in place on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am to 4pm in all town centre council car parks.

We have a jam-packed events programme lined up for the year, including the return of popular festivals such as Llanelli 80s FestivalLlanelli Vintage Festival and Llanelli Food and Drink Festival.

Up first is our Superhero Day on Wednesday 19th February, which will feature a host of superheroes in Stepney Square along with three Batmobile replicas from 12-3pm.
