The first Gar Gwyl music festival in Llanelli has been hailed as a great success by the organisers, Ymlaen Llanelli – The BID and champions of local music Alun ‘Cadno’ Rees and Owain ‘Y Lle’ Glennister. The festival held in Spring Gardens featured live bands, craft stalls and a bar.
Hundreds of people including young families attended the event and enjoyed the festival atmosphere on a gloriously sunny day. The music had started on the Friday evening as Ragsy (The Voice) embarked on a tour of the town’s pubs setting up and performing some great numbers.
There were also events at Ruby’s and the Kilkenny Cat. Saturday saw the festival set up in Spring Gardens and on Sunday Welsh folk group ‘Y Plebs’ did a tour of Felinfoel pubs playing some outstanding music with what can only be described as specialist musical instruments.
Judging by the comments on the Facebook page for the festival a great time was had by all and it left Llanelli wanting more.
